Happy Father’s Day!

The idea of a special day to celebrate and honor fatherhood was first introduced here in the United States. Did you know that Father’s Day has been celebrated since June, 1910 and it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year?

Though Father’s Day, like so many of our holidays has moved far from the roots of its original origins, the Word of God has remained steadfast on the importance of Father’s in the lives of their children. Here are just a couple of scriptures regarding the responsibility of a Father.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 – “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”

Ephesians 6:4  – “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

We pray that all you Father’s out there would be encouraged to stay true to the path that God has called you and continue to provide a godly example for your children.
