Les

Les Currey was born in Dayton, Ohio, grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas and accepted Christ at Turner Falls Youth Retreat at age 13.  Les considers himself an Arkansan, having lived in Arkansas for 40 years.

After high school, Les served in Viet Nam as a helicopter crew chief and door gunner in the U.S. Army and later attended college at TCJC in Ft. Worth, Texas and University of Arkansas in Monticello. He worked as Senior V.P. at CMT Industries and later went into business for himself, eventually starting three national manufacturing companies. After selling his businesses in 1996, as part of the sales agreement, Les served as Regional V.P. of Attwood Corporation in Reynosa Mexico for two years.

After an early retirement in 1999, God called Les to Hot Springs, where he has spent the last 21 years serving as a volunteer at Crossgate Church. Les has served in many areas of ministry during that time such as leading our bank refinance team, directing various fundraising campaigns, managing the coffee shop, serving as interim business manager, serving on the executive team, participating on mission trips, directing  our lead-pastor search teams, chairing the Learn & Play preschool board, teaching financial classes, serving as a trustee, leading our guest greeting team, serving as a LifeGroup leader, D-Group leader and as a Crossgate elder.

Les enjoys serving in ministry, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Razorback football and scuba-diving around the world.  He also enjoys fishing (Les fished professionally for seven years on the B.A.S.S circuit). Les is married to Mary and has one daughter Dorothy Jet Patterson. Jet is a medical doctor at UT Southwest Hospital in Dallas Texas and is married to Gareth Patterson, a professional photographer and marketing accounts manager at Children’s Hospital in Ft.
